Bracket clock in ebonised
case with brass mounts
Signed on the dial and back plate ‘John Austin London’. Austin was
apprenticed to the famous maker Richard Conyers in 1712 and became a
member of the clockmakers company in 1725 the case of this clock was
carefully and sensitively restored 5 years ago, movement is yet to
be restored and the whole clock is offered in current condition |

| Listed in Britten’s Old Clocks and Watches, this clock was probably made by William Gravell and he is shown as working at Charterhouse Square 1835-1842. |
| Rosewood case has brass inlaid decoration, fish scale side frets and ball feet, a gadrooned top surmounted with pineapple finial typical of the period. |
